Every Ursulite is a member — by right, for life
SUEXSA — the St. Ursula Ex-Student's Association — is the official alumni body of St. Ursula's High School, Nigdi, Pune. It exists to keep every ex-student connected to the school and to each other, across batches, cities, and generations.
Every student who has passed out of St. Ursula's is a member of SUEXSA by right. There is no membership fee and no application. If you are an Ursulite, you already belong. Registering simply adds you to the member directory so batchmates can find you.
The association organises reunions and community events, celebrates alumni achievements, supports current students through mentorship and scholarships, and stands by members in times of need.
The story behind the school that binds us all.
A young French woman, Mother Anne De Xainctogne, became deeply aware of the lack of educational opportunities for the girls of her time and was inspired to open schools. On 29 November 1596 she left her native town of Dijon, France, despite all resistance from her family, and through struggle and suffering founded the Society of St. Ursula on 16 June 1606.
Many young women joined her and committed themselves to the noble profession of educating the girls and women of their time.
In 1953, a few Swiss Sisters came to India to continue the good work Mother Anne had begun. St. Ursula High School (Akurdi) was founded by Mother Nicholas Buhlman in 1965 and is managed by the Society of St. Ursula.
Its sister institutions are Stella Maris School (Vadgaonsheri), K. Bajaj School (Chinchwad), and St. Ursula School (Kankavli).
